Quiet Before the Storm

Posted by Picasa

We are enjoying a blizzard today, and not the DQ kind.  It is very cold and has been snowing since noon.  It's supposed to let up tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's two shots I took at the Garden two weeks ago.  I was experimenting with the 18-55 mm zoom lens and these may serve as good examples of using the wrong lens for the wrong image.  These shots are from the east side of the park, near Rock Ledge Ranch, so they are from a bit of a different angle than is usually seen.

I know that I seem to be stuck on taking pictures at our local city park, but with my work schedule, the weather, and lack of local wildlife at the moment, there isn't a lot of opportunity for me to get other shots.  But summer is on the way!!!  I have a number of trips planned for this year that I hope will yield some good results.

  1. The pictures are great and warm right about now.

Local parks are always a good place to visit with a busy work schedule.

  2. Thanks for stopping by. Staying local is about all I can do at the moment. I was going to join your BYBS (hope I got that right), but when I put up a feeder, the deer emptied it in short order. If I put one in the trees, the squirrels get to it, so I seem to be stuck without the feeder.

  3. I'm not sure what you mean by "wrong lens for wrong immage." Those are great pix. What would you have done differently?

Will you post some snow pix?

  4. Lynne

I thought I got too much foreground in the pictures. I guess I could fix that by cropping a bit, but it seems it's just too long a shot.

I'm going to try to get out tomorrow and get some shots. It didn't stop snowing until around 9:00 AM this morning, but roads are still very icy and dangerous. Around the house here, we didn't get much snow, only about 4-5 inches, and it will likely be gone tomorrow. The bad part of the storm was the truly blizzard conditions -- high winds, very low visibility, and ice. At times we nearly had a white out.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy whatever i manage to get up here and your comments are more than welcome.
